James Clark - Double Bass/Tuba

Well schooled in classical piano, James played in Adelaide before moving to Melbourne to join The Syncopators. Notable bands include Peter Hooper's ´ Royal Garden Jazz Band´, `The Hephounds´ with Catherine Lambert and Andrew Firth, and the Kym Purling Trio, which enjoyed much success Australia wide including the support of the James Morrison/Ray Brown tour of the mid nineties. He has backed artists such as `Wild´ Bill Davison, Bob Barnard, Art Hodes and Ian Date and had master classes with Ray Brown in the USA.

James is also a recording engineer of high repute, originally with the Adelaide branch of the ABC between 1982 & 1989 followed by a 7 year stint at Pepper Studios in Adelaide engineering predominately radio & TV commercials. Today he is responsible for many Australian bands´ cd output - including The Syncopators.
