Peter Hooper - Banjo
Peter Hooper is an accomplished musician and one of Australia's finest banjo players. He has enjoyed both an aclaimed solo career as well as managing multiple bands such as Royal Garden jazz band, BBc Trio, BBC Quartet and performed freelance in many bands such as resident banjoist in Society Syncopators 1990-1993, Cairo Club Orchestra and Radio Rhythym Orchestra.
Peter has been guest artist with Royal Asutralian Airforce Band (Melbourne), ABC Symphony Orchestra Adelaide, Adelaide Police Concert Band amongst others. He has toured extensively on the international scene, and performed in Sacramento, San Franscisco, Hawaii, New Zealand, New Caledonia, New Guinea, Tonga, Fiji and Vanuatu.
Peter has supported performers such as Liberace, Jimmy Edwards, Bob Banard and Lou Rawls. Peter has performed with legendary performers such as Rolf Harris, Reg Lindsay and Smacka Fitzgibbon.
Peter has appeared on multiple television shows such as Good Morning Australia with Bert Newton and the ABC's Jazz as Now.
Peter was entered into the Hall of Fame in the Southern jazz Club, Adelaide in 2007 for 'exceptional service to traditional Jazz in South Australia.
Peter has performed at countless festivals and conventions and the Royal Garden Jazz band is renowned for a class performance at these events. After spending most of his professional career in Adelaide Peter has recently relocated and is brining his own personal style and expertise to the Melbourne and Victorian jazz scene.
